If the first one was soulless, this is just a creative black hole. The sequel somehow manages to be even more empty, derivative, and unnecessary. The writing is brainless, the performances feel like contractual obligations, and the visual style is still a hyper-sanitized mess of bad CGI and chaotic set design. Smurfette’s whole storyline is just recycled cartoon fluff stretched over a hollow 90-minute runtime. The Paris setting doesn’t even help, it’s just there for some postcard shots and product placement. This is the kind of movie that makes you question how anything gets greenlit in Hollywood. Not worth your time unless you’re nostalgic for pain.
A good cast of voice actors both Smurfs films had. The plots just put too much focus on the Neil Patrick Harris character that wasn't even in the show. While the Smurfs are in...Paris in this film ? The animated film is better since they are in Smurfs land throughout. That's the film they should have just made from the start. Now that they finally made it, these live action films made the Smurfs a joke already.
