Primer amor, primer aliento

The only thing I knew about 'My First Summer' going in was that it was a w|w film. I was expecting a cute little romantic comedy of sorts based from the poster and the title. Boy, was I wrong. Right from the start, this film hits you with a very unsettling feeling that looms over you for the entirety of it's 80 minute runtime. I found myself really caring about what happens to the characters and when it was over I felt a little tinge of sadness. Great debut from Katie Found.
Fantastic effort for a debut feature, I thought this was a really sweet film. The two young actresses I thought were both great, they played the "first time childhood love" story brilliantly. The character of Claudia was a bit all over the place, and her amazement toward the different candy Grace brought was a bit much, but I'd put that on the direction rather than the actor. Overall it was a very cute movie that will be a wonderful addition to my Gentle Cinema collection.
Watched it on the day b4 my 20 bd, it was cute
I really liked this movie, the way it wrapped the sweet innocent coming of age story in a much darker wrapper of a situation was interesting and really well written. I'm sure it won't be a movie for everyone, but I found the way it blended tone between light and sweet and dark and twisted really fascinating.
