There are two or three moments, with both main characters being likeable and somewhat witty. But that's it. 99% of the interactions between humans are just painful.
_Midnight at the Magnolia_ is a formulaic romantic comedy with no originality. The story follows the hosts of a morning radio show who promise their listeners to introduce their respective boyfriend and girlfriend to their families live on-air at a New Year’s Eve extravaganza, but when they’re unexpectedly dumped by their partners they pretend to date each other. Natalie Hall and Evan Williams don’t really have that good a chemistry together and don’t sell that they’re a hot radio show duo the are the buzz of the town. Part of the problem is the script; which telegraphs where it’s going from the start, and it’s aiming for more than the budget can afford. Still, the characters are likable and some of the comedy works. Yet while it has its moments, _Midnight at the Magnolia_ is a bland and mediocre film.
Cheesy hallmark style movies are not really my thing. It’s fine, there’s an audience for this. It’s not bad by any means, but it’s not something I personally enjoy. Rating: 1.5/5 - 6/10 - Not Recommended to Everyone
Given the title and the opening sequence in the movie you know exactly where this is all going to end up. The journey getting there? Incredibly bland. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or faebook I HATeBadMovies
Cheesiest thing I've ever seen, might've actually made me lactose intolerant.
