Too much 70s vibe, too much James Bond, too much kung-fu and not enough Batman. Instead of making an homage to everyone and everything why not just make a good Batman movie?
One of the better DC animated movies lately, and one that actually takes a risk and tries something new. Although truth be told, you could take Batman out of this movie entirely and it would still work. When he finally appears in costume, it's actually quite laughable. It's a movie that relies heavily on martial arts, so fortunately the animation is quite good during the fight scenes. The characters move realistically and fluidly, for the most part. It doesn't seem like they skimped on the animation budget this time around.
This is not a Batman movie.
I was not a fan of this one at all. It would of been cool if they would incorporated all of batman's characters into the 70's themed movie. There are much better batman dc animated movies out there.
Not gonna lie, I expected this movie to be hot garbage; to be another boring fast food DC animated movie that I'd watch once and never think about again. Well, it kind of went like that, except for the part of it being "boring". It was actual quite entertaining. The 2nd half kind of loses its cool and just goes wild, but the first half is really solid. Its production values also aren't anything amazing, but that's expected from this 1h20min DCAU movies. Also,
this is not a Batman movie. There's barely any Batman in it, and Bruce is a secondary character
.
