From Dinesh D’Souza comes the political exposé _Trump Card_. He looks at the Democrat party’s push for democratic socialism and exposes the lie that it’s based on the Scandinavian model when it actually follows the Central American model. Additionally, he discusses how moving from capitalism to socialism in Cuba and Venezuela has decreased the quality of living, as well as how the Democrat party pushes identity politics and how the media slants itself to further the Democrat party’s agenda. It’s a little awkward how the film transitions from topic to topic, but the discussions are quite interesting and informative. And while D’Souza makes his politics quite clear (he’s anti-socialist), he seems earnest is his exploration of the issues and doesn’t make any personal judgments. Rather he seems to want to warn people of the Orwellian road that this path leads to; even going so far as to use scenes from George Orwell’s_1984_ to bookend the film. _Trump Card_ is quite eye-opening and makes a powerful argument, but it’s unlikely to change anyone’s mind (particularly those who have bought into the dream of democratic socialism).
