This documentary covers so many things people faced and still face today. Family that hates you the way you are. The pressure to conform to norms. It's surprisingly sweet of a story of true love surviving in spite of all odds.

“You kind of broke the rules your whole life.” “Yes I have. That’s why I’m happy. Right?” “Felt good to break the rules?” “Right.” Very sweet, so much of this film left me smiling and my heart stirred. I think it could’ve focused more on them and less on the rest of the family, but what is there is so good and heartwarming.

This wasn't the best documentary in terms of structure and filming, but that doesn't make the viewing any less enjoyable. I loved learning about Terry and Pat. What a beautiful love story. Such a brave story. Something I don't think the documentary touched on enough. It's exceedingly rare to see a story of two old queer women who have lived a whole life with one another. Not to have some melodramatic ending. They had a whole life together. We do not see enough elder queers in media. So this was a beautiful viewing for that reason alone.

I needed a little something more, more stories, more anecdotes... but still, so lovely, and so hard to watch at the same time. if you’ve got grandparents that you love you know ageing is one of the most heartbreaking things you can witness.
