Reels you in, tugs at your heartstrings, and then throws you back into the ocean when it has done toying with your emotions. A good film and an inspirational story.
Wonderful family film tells true tale about some orphans going on a fishing trip that changes the fortunes of all involved. Heart warming and eye watering. Reminds me of some of the classic Disney films.
Hallmark movieish dramatization of the true life story of the saving of a rundown orphanage in Cabo San Lucas, when some of the orphans and their caretaker team up with a reluctant, washed up boat Captain, getting by on his fading reputation as the only two time winner of a prestigious fishing tournament. (except, rut roh Shaggy, there was some shenanigan's during the second "win") The orphanage owner has some past trauma as far as boats and fishing goes, adding to the dramatics, as well as the clichéd "evil" bank threatening to foreclose on the orphanage, and temptations from (former) thuggish associates trying to drag him back into his old life "for the kids". Overly cute (little) kids in the movie look nothing like the actual late teenaged boys that won the real tournament. The boat they won on was NOT a run down piece of junk, nor was the Captain, but then, hey "artistic license", er manipulation, for dramatics sake, right? Still, a nice positive story, for a change of pace. OK for a lazy afternoon or evening watch when you feel in need of a bit of inspiration.
Great family movie, great cast with a deep powerful message.
