I knew nothing about this movie going in aside what it says in the description. What an emotional journey this movie presents. For the most part this is a fun movie done in a unique style. It starts at the end so to say and you learn about the characters and, of course, their relationships to Red Dog, in flashbacks. All that time you know (fear ?) about what's comming at the end. And when it did, it hit me hard. I've had dogs for half my life so I know what it means to love and loose one. My good friend, who was with me for 13 years, died 18 months ago and still I am not over it. At the end of the movie he was with me again and we both mourned the death of Red Dog. That's the level of emotion this movie brought up in me.
this made me cry so much the bond between human and animal is so strong and beautiful
"Red Dog" is the movie you want to own! - I laughed and then I cried and then i laughed again and then i cried... again. (smile)
Heartwarming. And sad.
Great 70s soundtrack, lots of entertaining vignettes, funky drunken Aussie vibes, and it can be actually poignant at points.
