There's a lot to like about this movie. I was expecting a run-of-the-mill Lin Shaye Blumhouse-type thing (nothing negative) but was surprised with a strong statement: mental illness is much scarier than demonic possession, because there's no boogeyman to blame. A heavy topic this one, and when mixed with motherhood and guilt and broken family relationships, adding a pinch of groundhog-day loss of time, heavy turns to heady. Even the third act was rather satisfying, which is no small feat. Quality ingredients make a great recipe. Great work from the two leads in a demanding script (kudos to Juliana Sada too) , and the house where it all takes place is put to enjoyable cinematography use. I also loved the tilted-camera jumbled-words moments, and the crosses everywhere. There's a lot of meat in that fridge (you'll know what I mean). And chickens in the shed to feed.
