When you have a historical story in hand, either you have to be very serious, technical, and accurate or you have to catch the emotional essence with more soulful treatment. Escape from Mogadishu interestingly avoided both pathways and made something different; which is neither technically stunning nor close to the heart; but still effective! The performances of Kim Yoon-Seok, Jo In-Sung, and Koo Kyo-Hwan are of supreme brilliance. They have presented tension, anxiety, and fear through their performances which gives us a clear picture of what might things have been in real. The cinematography is typically symbolic of the Somalia Communal war, is a mix of fast-paced action and intense drama.
