Most boring-est real crime police murder investigation ever
[Filmin] A film noir with more claims than results. It works on your police job description. It fails in a second part devoid of suspense and interest. You hope that some gesture, some dialogue, will move you, but the wait is endless.
This is the perfect example of the difference between television and cinema. The story here is ordinary and one that can easily be found on the small screen, while the directing gives the tale of a police prefecture in a medium sized French town gravitas it otherwise wouldn't have, and the acting carries the film into one worth a watch. While not the same intensity as _Polisse_ (2011), _Roubaix_ / _Oh Mercy_ has a slow jazz energy that makes it an interesting film. Special mention to the lead actresses Léa Seydoux and especially the hyper talented Sara Forestier who has the gift of making lost angels of the marginalized and disenfranchised (her film _M_ from 2017 is nearly perfect and the best romance I've ever seen).
