This is way too long and the beginning hour painfully slow. It pick up a little when the war starts but then it starts to feel like a bunch of small stories and I don't care for any of the characters. The war scenes are good but no where near the level of Saving Private Ryan, which is too be expected because this is for Disney. I've never been a huge fan of human/animal relationship movies and this one isn't changing my mind.
Classic old school film making at its best. Spielberg turned back the time and made a movie that is rarely made today. A small story taking place during an epic event. Microcosmos on a grand scale. People expecting more war and less horse should ask themselves what the hell they thought this movie would be about. It's about a horse and his owner during war time. It's about separation and finding back together during chaos. The horse is the protagonist. War is just the backdrop and setting. You want more war, watch Dunkirk, The Longest Day or A Bridge Too Far. This is about the friendship of a horse and his owner. Get that into your skull.
Hermosa película y que trama, woow excelente esta película me re gusto. muy buena historia, guion, actuación. recomendada. Beautiful Film
Are you crazy??? The movie was terrific! So touching that I cried! Steven Spielberg at his best!
On paper, I thought that this must be a dumb movie. The story of a horse in a war with machine guns. Actually, I was wrong. Apart from a few scenes that I find quite unbelievable, the fact that the horse is used to show different aspects of the war really works. It manages to show (glimpses of) the atrocities and suffering namely in the trenches, on both sides, the civilians, the hospitals and the people back home. Despite being a bit pathetic at times, it is actually a really good movie about WW1.
