I thought this was very touching and endearing documentary of one my favorite Star Trek series. It really was just touching and truly made me feel like I was a part of a close knit community!
Good documentary. No boring talking heads, "we all love Star Trek" stuff. Worthwhile to watch. Best moment: when they contemplated on how DS9's serial story telling costed the show viewers in the 90s but how that became one of its greatest strengths in the streaming era. Never thought about that but it is probably true. Second best moment: The DS9 cast and story as seen by Afro-Americans. I honestly had no idea that certain aspects of this show meant so much to many in the Afro-American community (apart the obvious episodes dealing with racism).
What a fantastic blast from the past, if only they could still write Star Trek as good as DS9 was.
I came upon this documentary by chance, and I'm so glad I decided to give it a look see. Rather than just doing a "talking heads" rehash of DS9, they got the main writers together to block out the first episode of a "new" season, continuing in real time from where the show ended, interspersed with recollections from the cast. The result is a captivating look at the "middle brother" of the Star Trek Universe, that never quite got the respect it deserved, yet, was arguably the most progressive and socially relevant series of the franchise. It was good to see all of the cast, and, I wish somehow they could "make it so". If not the imagined "new series", perhaps a mini one, or a feature length movie special.
