A formulaic coming-of-age drama, Daddy Issues is kind of a pointless mess. After Maya meets her online crush at a party the two start to date, but things take a turn when Maya discovers that her new girlfriend is a call girl who has a sugar daddy that pays for her lifestyle. Lead actress Madison Lawlor gives a strong performance, but the rest of the cast is fairly unremarkable. And the script is rather poor and unfocused; leaving several plot threads underdeveloped. Also, the soundtrack, while featuring some good songs, is intrusive and feels more like inserted music videos. Daddy Issues isn’t without its moments, but there’s just too much clutter.
The good: the film had a decent flow to it and the montage toward the end really moved the story (and the upcoming conflict) along nicely. The bad: listening to the lead whine that nobody is helping her live up to her dreams follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHateBadMovies
I hated everything about this film. It's a tale of two incredibly spoiled young girls in LA who do and offer nothing, especially the main character who dresses and acts like she's a small child and whose art consists of coloring things in on her iPad, that find each other and do not grow at all. It's incredibly empty, as money seems to be the driving force behind everyone's motivations and ends up solving their problems, which is so perfectly LA. Simply put, I feel embarrassed for watching this. Be better than me and skip this.
