Very good film, don't know why I didn't watch it sooner. Much better than Avatar imho.
a good old-fashioned adventure fantasy film and well worth sitting back with your popcorn and be entertained. Not sure why the negative comments. It's a great story, script and acting with some wonderful special effects. Strap in and give it a watch.
I maintain that John Carter is an excellent movie with creature design that's better than decent and most of the CGI works. It should have started a series. The potential was there to completely riff off the books in a completely different way. The first problem of calling it _John Carter_ instead of _John Carter of Mars_ is silly but the storyline is solid if the wardrobe design was only so so. It's a VERY enjoyable romp. It's what Cowboys and Aliens wanted to be.
It sets up an interesting world but it is almost too much to fully appreciate. The action is fine, the acting is ok, the CGI is pretty good but overall the movie is watchable but I can see why it bombed at the box office.
Some impressive visuals but somehow too much comical scenes to make this a serious movie.... It really is Disney cinema. But a good teaser to start reading the books
