[FlixOlé] Carlos Saura returns to the cinema of his beginnings in "Los golfos" (1960) to show again the suburbs, now in democratic Spain. Although he used to say that he didn't usually direct actors, this time he gets non-professional leads (most of them didn't continue in the movies) to achieve performances full of honesty and credibility. Representative of the somewhat more stylized "quinqui cinema", Saura provides a close look at his characters, represented in that permanent close-up of Berta Socuéllamos at the end of the film.
