I love Ozu's quiet, meditative style--it's jarring at first, the persistent use of floor-level cameras with no movement, but it quickly lulls me into a headspace that I love. He presents a town, a country, and a universe that I want to spend time in. The movie, though, was just ok for me--I didn't find the sexual politics to be interesting or particularly comprehensible, so I was left cold for much of it. Shoutout to people wearing the most impractical, uncomfortable shoes I've ever seen.
