Should've been a lesbian romance.
With the movies we see now trying to force some subjects, they should learn with this movie and it’s from 2003! So smooth!
I most enjoyed the Indian culture in this movie: the strong family values and loyalty, the bright colors and festive celebrations, the community. The rest felt really dated and meh. Amazing how much culture has shifted around being gay in the last 20 years, too.
Juliet Stevenson is the only one who knows what's up in this film
Contrary to what the title suggests, this movie is not primarily about football. In fact, football is just the backdrop for a story about Indian immigrants in the UK. It tackles mainly the internal clashes between the immigrant parents and their children, born and raised I the UK. The movie is charming, with excellent performances by the main cast. It helps non Indians, like me, to get a better understanding of culture of Indian immigrants.
