Considering the cast is made up of terrific actors like Lauren Bacall and John Gielgud (who in particular is wasted here), this version of an iconic Poirot case is underwhelming at best. Perhaps I've been ruined by watching David Suchet's brilliant performance as the Belgian detective (in much the same way that Joan Hickson _is_ Miss Marple) but Albert Finney gives a hammy and annoying portrayal as the famous sleuth. I struggled to get through this adaptation, which is a shame because I love Agatha Christie.
I loved the other movies based on Agatha Christie novels, but this one wasn't that good compared to the others, it was not that interesting and the ending was not that good either.
I didn't find the book very good, and it happened the same with the movie. In addition, the characters were very theatrical with no purpose. They weren't funny, so the movie could have had more serious characters to make it more as a mystery movie. The plot is interesting, but not completely mysterious, though.
Excellent Agatha Christie murder mystery.
