A lot of people said this is a Plane,Trains and Automobiles ripoff, but you know what who cares. This was a funny laugh out loud film. Downey and Galifianakis have funny chemistry, they just play off each other perfectly. Like The Hangover it is one entertaining misadventure, I say don't listen to the critics, see this movie and form your own opinion.
I remember seeing billboards for this when it came out and going oh come on, this is just a Planes Trains wanna be. I saw it...and sure, it wants to be that. But goddamnit if I didn't laugh my ass off in theaters, then rent it and laugh my ass off, then buy it on blu ray and laugh my ass off, and force anyone around me to watch it every year or two. There are a few comedies out there that have been unfairly forgotten and this is one of them. Two more are Horrible Bosses 1 AND 2. Funny stuff.
My brother loves this movie. To me though it wants to be Planes, Trains and Automobiles but it's not as memorable. While I usually find Robert Downey Jr. more likeable. He just didn't seem right for a Steve Martin like role. Zach Galifianakis isn't bad even he pretty much playing Alan from the Hangover again. You also have Danny McBribe as an asshole but an asshole in a wheelchair. So I guess that means he's not type cast because he always plays assholes but never a crippled one. Jamie Foxx isn't bad though for the small amount of screen time he has.
Between four writers, one of which was the director doing punch up on the previous effort, and it's about as funny as rectal bleeding. When RDjr angrily spits in the dogs face I saw the moment as a metaphor for the audience.
lowest common denominator garbage. its a shame too, this movie had a lot of potential.
