'Big' Meets 'can't buy me love' , but not as good...
Despite the occasional funny one liner, this a pretty slapdash effort. Ross Lynch took a break from this kind of role when he starred as the young Jeffrey Dahmer. He was great in that film, and I hope he makes similar moves away from this repetitive teen nonsense. He and we deserve better.
I’m going the opposite way of the other reviewers. I’m a fish out of water story fan. I expected this to be completely trash but I wound up liking it a lot. Despite being cliche and predictable there are some very funny moments. It’s also a better produced film than I expected. Low expectations probably led me to like this a lot more than I otherwise would. But it was very funny in parts.
Status Update (2018) - ❤x6 This is basically a Disney-style teen movie. It's ok for what it is but it's nothing special. In fact, it has the same old tired tropes of a teen Disney Teen movie. Kid gets access to some kind of magical power, abuses it, gets a big head, lets down all of his real friends, and eventually comes back to his senses - then finally, all is well again - Yawn. And the bit where he sings La Traviata is just ridiculous. How I rate: 1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time 4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this 7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too 9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
I watched this in like 20 minutes (skipping) and that says it's pretty awful. Its super cliche making you feel like you are watching it for the 13000th time. I love Ross but dude wtf??
