Sinopsis
Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals es un documental de televisión de 2010 transmitido por HBO. La película narra la rivalidad entre Magic Johnson y Larry Bird que comienza con el Juego de Campeonato de Baloncesto NCAA 1979 y duró a lo largo de sus largas carreras en el Salón de la Fama en la NBA. La película argumenta que sin la atención masiva de los medios que se le dio a la rivalidad que tenían Magic y Bird, la NBA podría no haber hecho hasta la década de 1980 después de la fusión con la ABA, entre otras cosas.

Not quite as good or as in-depth as the ESPN 30 For 30 episode "Lakers/Celtics - Best of Enemies" but this one focuses exclusively on the relationship between Magic & Bird. It does have some moving moments, but the show seemed to end all at once, though now that I think about it, maybe that was an intentional thing by the director to symbolize how abruptly their careers seemed to end in the early 90's. Still, it's a must-watch if you love the Celtics, Lakers, Bird, Magic, or the NBA in the 1980's.

A cool relationship between two people with a common goal. Awesome that basketball and health could put that into perspective over race.

Even though I don't like the Lakers and despise the Celtics, this is actually quite interesting. Focus is more on the relationship between Magic and Bird instead of the teams, but you get a fair amount of interesting insight and basketball history as well. If you are at all interested in basketball, this is tailor-made for you.
