Black Death isn't a horror movie. It's a movie which gives us a perspective of Religions in medieval times. Black Death let us see how "God Of Men" interpreted natural disasters like plague and used it to deliver the _message of God_... Women were executed in the name of witches & serving devils. The part where Bishops of Christian church sends their man to kill people just because they were not sick was realistic. They just did to strengthen their authorities. This movie is more likely a "The dark side of Religion". Overall, although lacking in some parts like costumes and it's vague plot, Black Death is a fairly enjoyable movie ....
Surprisingly good. Had the characters been more well constructed, this could've been a top movie. Anyway, I'll always appreciate a movie that doesn't end in a cliché.
This movie is actually a pretty good depiction of the brutal live in medieval England, particularly during the plague in 14th century England. The movie also shows the blind, simple minded christian faith of many at the time as well as heathen beliefs. The story is also well told and takes us viewers into a supernatural direction without entirely losing the link to the cruel and superstitious reality of the time. Excellent acting performances, costumes and environments add to the excellent depiction of the time. An interesting watch that is not really what you may expect it to be.
First things first: Do NOT go into this expecting a horror movie; this is **not** a horror movie. It is an historical drama about a horrific time, the time of the plague known as the "Black Death". If you watch this expecting a horror movie, or a lot of blood, guts, death, etc, you will leave very disappointed. If you watch this hoping to see a great drama movie with a very dark feel to it, you'll probably wind up loving this, as I did. I was not expecting a movie this great on Tubi but this was a superb film. Great story superbly dramatized by Sean Bean and Eddie Redmayne, and the rest. The storyline was great, the dialogue was great - even though somewhat limited - the background score was perfect for it, as well as the cinematography. There _was_ one real negative, however...at least for me: While I can watch some "handheld" movies, others are just too jittery, too shaky, and have too much camera movement and ultimately cause me to feel sick (due to an unfortunate accident after being left unattended at a renowned amusement park many years ago). This movie crossed the boundaries _in a few places_. For the most part, I was okay with it but there were some scenes where the jittery camera was almost too much, and I found my head starting to spin a bit. If you have no problem watching "found footage"-type movies, this probably won't even affect you at all. Apart from that one minute detail, however, I found this to be one of the better films I've watched in recent weeks. Very engrossing, it _does_ slow down a bit about one-third (?) of the way in, but picks up again and ends amazingly. Again, if you're looking for a "horror" movie, this isn't it; if you're looking for a great drama about a horrific time in history, look no further. Highly recommend this one.
bore snore.. long, slow & boring.. I was playing "spot the GOT actor", I found 3.
