I gave it a "6" (Fair) rating only because it was exactly what I was looking for on a late Friday night with a bowl of ice cream: Stupid, cheesy, awful Italian flick. And that was just what I wanted. LOL This was so atrocious that I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless - like me - your brain is demented and you love inflicting this kind of torment on yourself. I can't explain it; sometimes I wonder if it's just some weird kind of nostalgia that harks back to those Friday nights in the Army when we played pinochle with a 13" TV playing _USA Up All Night_ B-movies in the background... Who knows. All I know is there are those weird, rare occasions when stupid stuff like this is just what I'm looking for...and I know going in that it's going to be bad, but I want to watch it anyway...maybe just to laugh at it. In any event, this fit the bill and was just horrible enough to be funny. The so-called "infamous death-by-snails" scene was so bad it really was laughable.... Wow, who came up with death-by-snails??!!! What a riot... As if that weren't completely oddball enough, they threw in a "death-by-statue" which was even more ... I don't know: I'm running out of negative adjectives here. Anwyays, the only reason I could give for watching this is what I mentioned above: If you're just in the mood for something laughably awful, but you're not really in the mood for the blood-and-gore of a typical Lucio Fulci zombie flick, then you might get a kick out of this one. It's a typical "revenge" flick with a kind of an odd twist and 99.9% of the time, you're gonna want to run the opposite direction and avoid this smelly thing. For those bizarre Friday evenings, however, when you've scooped out a bowl of ice cream and you're just bored with all the run-of-the-mill stuff that's going through the Hollywood grinder at the moment, maybe you want to kick back and just laugh at how bad a movie can be. Right here is where you'll find it.
Enjoyable supernatural romp in the Fulci aesthetic. I quite enjoyed the cinematography in places. I got this as a recommendation from those that said if you like The Beyond, you'll probably like this too. I thought the visuals in The Beyond were better and more consistent. Honestly, I think this has more in common with the Australian movie Patrick that was released in 1978. Not a lot of these kind of movies anymore. Worth a view for sure.
