3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Creep 2’: 1. Like the first one, it’s difficult to tell where the story is gonna go. 2. I was surprised at how this felt completely different from its predecessor, while successfully continuing the same story. Less creepy, more psychological. 3. I agree that these are some of the best, more original “found footage” films.
>*"I will rip myself open and let you see every last inch of me. And together, I believe, we will make magic."* *Creep 2: the mid-life crisis* This guy just gets crazier and crazier. I love how he breaks the ice once again here, it hasn't even been two minutes sinse he met someone and he's already dropped his whole serial killer life in a monologue. The stuff he says is so ridiculous I honestly don't know how Mark Duplass says his lines with a straight face. The addition of a character that's litterally searching for weirdness and truly doesn't scare easy puts the bar higher for Peachfuzz and it's the best direction they could've taken for a sequel. Interesting dynamics once again and the comedy is just as hilarious. The script reflects the killer in a way, it's all over the place and feels like each scene is made up as we go. The movie doesn't quite flow as well as the first and it stumbled a few times but it's still a respectable follow up. I'm mixed on the climax, kinda feels like he broke out of character with some odd decisions but I don't know, maybe he really is that crazy.
So demented I love it. Funnier and far more iconic than the first. Also, the ending has never seemed to leave my mind since I first watched it.
Still very creepy. You now know things, you know how creepy Josef or as he goes by in this film Aaron is but still it keeps you on edge, waiting for what he's up to next. This movie is entirely different from the first but it's not at all bad. Mark Duplass is just great, he brings out the darkness of his character but with a charme and even innocence to it, it's funny at times.
My review on Criticker: "This started out somewhat slow for me, but grew throughout the whole film. Akhavan and Duplass complimented watch other very well. There was a natural chemistry between the leads that I enjoyed. This was far more playful than the first. I liked the first in a "recommend to indie horror fans" way, but this one has further reach in my opinion. First half 6.3 ish. Second half 8.3! I'm going to go a little higher than the avg of the halves at a 7.5 and round up to an 8 for those 10 pt scale sites."
