It's a poor film, yet kinda is better than it has any right to be given what it is... and it definitively improves upon 'Casper: A Spirited Beginning', so gets props for that. 'Casper Meets Wendy' feels like it takes things from 1993's 'Hocus Pocus' and that's a positive, the parts of the story with the trio of witches and Wendy (portrayed by film debutant Hilary Duff!) are actually almost good. However, negatives include the underuse/misuse (at least that's how it felt to me) of Casper and the parts of the plot with George Hamilton & Co. - which are, frankly, terrible. Jeremy Foley remains solid as the voice of Casper since joining with the second installment, while Cathy Moriarty - Carrigan from the original - returns to the series in a different role. The only person who appears in all three opening releases is Ben Stein, as far as I noticed anyway. Next: 'Casper's Haunted Christmas'. Exciting stuff, I know...
Direct-to-video Casper sequel, the kind they made in the 90s to squeeze every franchise until the last drop. The fun part is seeing Hilary Duff at like 10 years old playing Wendy, the good little witch running away from the evil wizard Desmond (who's more funny than scary, but anyway). The witch aunts Gert, Gaby and Fanny try to be funny with their whole "bad witches but good at heart deep down" thing, and Stretch, Stinkie and Fatso are there clowning around as always.
The effects are super cheap even for the time, the villain is ridiculous, and the plot of "let's unite ghosts and witches" is the most predictable thing in the world.
But hey, if you watched it as a kid on those Antena 3 afternoon movie slots, it has its nostalgic charm. Baby Hilary Duff is adorable and that's the only thing that really matters.
