The old saying that 'A grandmother is a mother twice over' is logically grounded in this film. Canola is a family drama with a life lesson—a drama that goes above and beyond, offering an interesting and beautiful story. This movie will make you laugh, smile, and cry... The cast and the acting were definite highlights. I was deeply impressed by the ensemble; everyone did a fantastic job. The performances were exemplary. For some, when the movie reaches the characters' maturity stage, the plot might get a bit confusing, but it is still very easy to follow. The way Hye-ji (Kim Go-eun) confesses, blended with other pivotal moments, highlights the sheer brilliance of Yang Seo-hyun, Ha A-reum, and Chang in writing the script. Another point that deserves to be highlighted is the profound love and affection that take center stage throughout the film, alongside messages that provoke deep reflection. One of them is: 'Indeed, certain lies must be told because the benefit outweighs the harm of not telling them.' Now, the masterstroke—and perhaps the most beautiful thing about the film—is the choice of the title, Canola. Those who watched it might not fully grasp it at first, and only a few will truly understand its deep meaning... A movie that is more than highly recommended!
