Absolutely amazing concert! Prince at the height of his powers. No other musician/performer has ever had so many talents and used them to this level. I watched the recently released High-Def remastered deluxe version from Tribune Medien out of Holland. It looks spectacular when compared to the original video and later 'remastered' DVDs from Japan. If you've ever sat on the fence about whether you like Prince or not, please watch this concert. You'll see what the fuss is about. An unbelievably tight band, great set list, fantastic stage lighting and direction, and the greatest singular talent music has ever seen. Prince was a genius. 10/10
Shelia E. will take your ass to church, I know that.
amazing concert film! Normally im not a massive fan of concert films, but this one really did blow me away, the visual lights outfits and sets are amazing and extremely awesome to watch on screen. and of course prince is an amazing performer on stage and your eyes are on him the whole time and you dont want to look away! And some extremely talented drumming by Sheila E thats just **captivating** to listen to.
I often complain about a lot of live concerts not working particularly well when presented through a cinematic format, particularly when it comes to rock bands. However, _Sign of the Times_ is a huge exception to that rule. The bold, bright lighting and set perfectly capture the aesthetic of Prince. The setlist and performances by Prince and his band are watertight, often building on the original compositions in an interesting, unexpected way. The camerawork, editing choices and stage choreography are all very exciting, it’s one of the few times where I feel like the experience of watching this gave me something more than just listening to the music. There are a few things that could’ve been improved (the mix on U Got The Look sounds a little off; don’t cut away from Sheila E during that drum solo), but this was overall a really fun, memorable experience. 8.5/10
