Here I go... Down the rabbit hole of cheesy Christmas movies... Let the games begin!
Crappy Christmas 2024 Film #6 I've been wanting to watch this for a while (but its been impossible to find) mainly due to Mayim Bialik. I didn't even realise her co-star was Ryan McPartlin, who I enjoyed on the underrated TV show, Chuck. Obviously with this review, I finally got a chance to watch it and I'm glad I did. This film is on the crappy Christmas list due to it's low imdb rating and because it gives ever sign of a standard Hallmark film. And that hallmark feeling is here in spades. But I enjoyed this way more than I should have. It’s pretty low-key, and some of the dialogue feels a bit forced, but Bialik and McPartlin have enough chemistry to make it work. McPartlin’s character does rely a bit too much on his trademark smile to carry scenes, and I wish they’d added a bit more depth, especially given his character’s relationship situation. Like I said, this is a standard Christmas holiday film that is free-to-air, but in that category, you can do a lot worse. If you’re looking for a low-stakes Christmas movie that’s a little off the beaten path, this one’s a decent pick—it’s definitely a cut above the usual 'crappy Christmas' fare, if only just.
