I knew David Prowse was denied the opportunity to be the voice of Darth Vader, despite embodying the villain in the classic trilogy. What I didn't know was the way Lucasfilm, or more specifically George Lucas, has treated the man years after those films were made, denying him the chance to attend official Star Wars conventions, and mistreating him on the set of Episode 6. The full story is within this documentary and it left me feeling sad for the great man, although he has achieved much more in life than being Darth Vader. Ironically, on the IMDB page for this documentary, Prowse isn't even given top billing, appearing several notches down the list! Despicable.
It's OK... most of it crosses over into the 'who-cares' category. Fun viewing for those who enjoy Comic Con type stuff -- not that it involves Comic Con, but I think they'd like it more than I did.
I was gutted we never got to see the unveiling of David's face under the Vader mask...but i suppose the copyright kicked in. Anyone know where you can find it? Quite nostalgic - i remember seeing the newspaper articles in the paper when i was young and ultimately finding out that Vader would die before i had the chance to see ROTJ at the cinema..but who cares when your 10 years old i suppose. Loved seeing the old green cross code adverts as well....they took me back.
