A very uncomfortable dark comedy that is ultimately a character study on some truly horrible people. It's nasty and mean but also emotionally engaging. It's one of those rare occasions where style and substance come together to create fantastic storytelling. You never know where the film's going to take you, thanks to its structure and unique characters. It seamlessly shifts from being extremely dark to extremely funny and some of the dialogue is funny in a way that you didn't know whether to laugh or not. The tension in this almost becomes unbearable by the end. I think Grenier and Trimbur both totally nail the love/hate relationship. Fionnula Flanagan is also wonderful as a bitchy hypocrite grandmother.
I watched the first 30 minutes which was very difficult because this movie sucks balls. I had to turn it off I tapped out
An unpleasant film about unpleasant people that had me cackling with twisted amusement throughout.
The first half hour was brilliant. I liked Owen. He was a miserable but brutally honest guy who cut through the crap of social situations. The dialogue had me hooked. Half way and he changes as a character and I do miss it, but you are introduced to grandma who does a simular thing but focuses on personal insults. Pearl keeps the creep factor up a little big. It slowed down a bit and could have been a lot better with dark atmosphere as there wasn't much insanity or horror.
Dark comedy that subverts expectations.
