Sinopsis

In the Heat of the Night is one of my favorite films. Unfortunately this sequel is unwatchable. If you’re like me you’ll have to try it anyway just in case…

If this movie wasn’t standing in the shadow of In the Heat of the Night, it would be a perfectly fine neo noir just as the genre reached an apex. As it is, it’s difficult to put a character who was at the center of such an important film in a wack-a-doo drug/pimp crime story that never even tries for a second to contain any amount of mystery for the viewer. Not to mention all the weird shit between Tibbs and his son? Ultimately, a confounding film.
