Pales in comparison to the previous film.
That's a wonderful classic movie. On one hand it's totally innocuous family entertainment. A classic romance with beautiful people in beautiful suits and dresses. Not unlike a soap opera. On the other hand it discusses a variety of very serious issues: racism, sexual exploitation in the movie industry, coming of age, singles moms in economic distress, emancipation, the superficiality of showbiz, unhappy marriages. It's probably a much more serious drama than you initially surmise. Especially Sarah Jane's and her mother's story is extremely emotional. Plus, needless to say, but how can't you be fascinated by all the 50s design and cars and tech? Awesome!
