Not the spoof horror that I expected. This is a far more serious affair though it suffers from too much padding before the monster scenes occur.

Pretty great little monster movie! The creatures are effectively kept offscreen for most of the film, and we spend a lot of time getting to know and connecting with the protagonists, who are very likeable and human.

It was fine. Felt like a whole lot of nothing, and then the monsters came. At one point I paused and was amazed there was only 30 minutes left because it still felt like the first act.
