(FILMAFFINITY)

I should have known this was going to be a silly film after the first few minutes. The accident that puts the main character into a wheelchair that sets up the need for a helper monkey was laughably bad. I continued to give a chance. The movie worked in the beginning after he builds a bond with the monkey. However, everything else falls completely flat. I think the most frustrating part for me was that every character was completely unreasonable. They were all assholes and I hated them all by the time the film ended. I was ok with the questionable motivation for the monkey to turn "evil," but I can't forgive how it ended.
Watching Jason Beghe whip his head around with the monkey in his jaws to kill it was insulting
and really just felt like they didn't think through how it was going to end. As I write this, I'm not sure if even a 4 is being too generous...
This one didn’t do much for me. Could have been trimmed down as I felt it dragged on at times, I also didn’t feel committed to any of the characters as none of them were very likable aside from Melanie. Kudos to the animal training involved though.
The idea ain't so bad after the initial what the.....? The end is unintentionally hilarious. 6 is generous but it was fun.
A truly protective monkey in this film.
I was waiting for animatronic monkeys to show up, they didn't. That poster is lying. But they got cute capuchin monkeys! It may sound silly but the film is pretty good actually, although it's a bit too long and predictable. I'm always amazed by films involving real monkeys because they can be really good at acting. As the title suggest, the monkey named Ella really shine on this. She's a service monkey for a conflicted quadriplegic man, Allan Mann. As their bond got stronger, they're able to communicate telepathically and conduct their evil plans. Ella is cute even when she does evil things and Jason Beghe looks so fine. As far as George A. Romero movies go, this is not his strongest but still packed with so much fun.
