Did we really need a third film about this dog? This, a made-for-television sequel to 'The Shaggy Dog' and prequel to 'The Shaggy D.A.', is a pale imitation of the preceding two productions. Less humour, lesser acting and a more boring storyline. It, despite the aforementioned, seems to largely ignore the events of the 1976 sequel. There now seems to be some inconsistencies with the latter; e.g. a previously untold secondary occurrence of the curse, the ring's location, Betty's knowledge. It's possible I'm forgetting something that connects them, I don't think so though. Gary Kroeger is an average Wilby, but Todd Waring makes for a good Moochie. I didn't care for the love tiff featuring Michele Little (Betty) and Cindy Morgan (Laura), though it is mostly well acted by those two in fairness. Overall, 'Return of the Shaggy Dog' is a needless addition to the universe of Shaggy.
