I can just never seem to quite get on Verhoeven's wavelength. This had some flashes of inspiration, but Krabbe had a weird sweaty energy that put me off and kept me at an emotional remove. The religious overtones didn't work for me and ultimately it just felt a bit too on the nose.

The original title of the film is De vierde man. An alternative title is The Fourth Man.
