I don't think I ever disliked a main character this much. She's an awesome actress, though.

This movie had ambition that outstretched its capabilities. It tried to tackle a whole host of themes - coming of age, social media, misogyny, etc - and quite frankly did so very poorly. It also tried to take some shortcuts - for a while the main theme seemed to be to have Britt Robertson in her underwear for absolutely no reason. Its sad to see Slater and Sheen in movies like this when you consider their past works. I am still not sure about the ending - in some ways it feels out of place given the themes that that movie was addressing. This movie could never decide what it wanted to be. It was a bumpy, uneven roller-coaster ride through multiple genres of films that, in the end, didn't do the source material justice. It began as sort of a teen/young adult film, delved into an _American Beauty_ type feel, then ended in a [spoiler]non-fiction/possible true crime[/spoiler] class that felt more like a TV movie. There were components of this film that were introduced in two areas early on that were completely discarded, only to be picked up much later in the film without any sort of explanation for why. For someone who knew nothing about the source material for this film, the ending came completely out of nowhere. I also had a problem with how dismissive this narrative was of sexual assault, rape, misogyny, and domestic abuse, which was even more disappointing, when I found out that this was written and directed by a woman.
