It starts with a blah match between "Flash Funk" - who has to be one of the blandest characters ever developed by the WWF - and "Hunter Hearst Helmsley" (Paul Levesque, prior to his "Triple H" or "The Game" character was developed) accompanied by the "manster" Chyna. As is to be expected, the match ends with Chyna getting involved. Yawn, ho-hum. Next up, another forgettable match, this one between "Rocky Maiva" vs Mick Foley's "Mankind" character. While I love Mick Foley and feel like he brought "everything and then some" to the world of sports entertainment, his "Mankind" character was just too weird AND one-dimensional. You knew everything was going to end either with a DQ or with his so-called "mandible claw". Next was a tiny bit of a back-story leading up to Ahmed Johnson fighting three members of the "Nation of Domination", and even though "WWE President" Gorilla Monsoon got involved, you pretty much knew how this one would end...and so it did. Now we have the awful match between "Vader" vs Ken Shamrock. Being a fan of UFC as well as professional wrestling, this was hard to watch: you have that "water-and-oil" non-mixture of actual MMA trying to work with the scripted world of sports entertainment: the audience didn't really know how to react and the whole thing was quiet and just awkward. I've watched enough MMA to know what Shamrock was going for with the leg kicks, but the WWE audience didn't seem to understand it and honestly, from the viewpoint of anyone who might not be familiar with MMA, the leg kicks would have, indeed, seemed strange and weirdly sissified. (I can attest that they work, though!) Even good ol' JR (Jim Ross) had to admit at the close of the match, _"This was much different than we're used to seeing here in the WWF, ladies and gentlemen."_ TRANSLATION: _"These guys sucked, and we apologize for subjecting you to this."_ LOL Now we come to the "meat of the matter": the WWF title match between "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs The Undertaker. During Austin's introduction and walk to the ring, Jim Ross points out that a viewer in the audience has a sign that reads _"Stone Cold for President"_ ; JR asks Jerry Lawler, _"Can you imagine if this guy ran the country?!!"_ To which Lawler replies, _"If Stone Cold ran the county, the national bird would be the middle finger."_ ROFL Again, it may have been scripted, but that was a great line! The match itself was just what you would expect from these two: an open brawl right from the beginning and wow, did they BOTH bring it. You knew the "ringside" occupants would play a part but you didn't know how much. One of the highlights of the match itself, though, were the "low blow" moments. (Watch the match and you'll see.) I can honestly say I've not seen that in any match before (low blows, yes, but not like this!) and it was just awesome. I actually laughed out loud; whomever wrote that into the match - or whether it was done spontaneously - should be rewarded. That was just great. One of the few _In Your House_ cards to actually end on what I would consider a very high note, this one had its low moments, yes, but that match between Austin vs Undertaker just needs to be watched. Definitely one of the better matches in WWF history, IMO.
