I understand that this film was something new in its day due to the subject matter it deals with, but I dare say that it has not aged well. The direction is brilliant (I didn't expect anything less from Amenabar), the performances are stellar (Bardem is spectacular) and there are touches in the dialogue that are good and emotional. Beyond that, it seems to me to be a somewhat simple film in script and plot. 7/10
