I remember I used to watch this back when like 7 years old as part of School lessons. I pretty much forgot about it until someone made a meme on one of clips from this movie. I guess soundtrack songs can be a little distracting and the whole racism stuff in entirety of movie sets people off. It’s cool they got son of MLKJ to voice Dr King himself and bunch of A list celebrities you recognize. This is just more of a brief history of Martin Luther King Jr with some time traveling stuff, which is nostalgic trip.
I think I watched this every MLK Day in Elementary School. The film seemed great as a kid, because this film was made for kids. It's a watered down version of MLK, which leaves a lot to be desired. This is an All Star Cast, an introduction to learning about MLK, but much is left out in an hour long film. I feel the films biggest failure is not showing racism still exists, and not showing the system that Dr. King opposed so much is still very much in power. Only getting 25% of the big picture is not enough. Perhaps a new animated version is needed. Watching "Our Friend, Martin" was a nostalgia trip, but I don't think I need to rewatch this again.
This movie is great for kids and adults! It reminds us that that we are stronger together than divided!
