I don't even know what to say about this film. It was good right from the start, but it seemed like I'd seen plenty of movies like it many times before. And then...something happened. I don't think I can quite pinpoint when, but suddenly I felt like I was watching something from another world. Everything just got weird and everything I had seen previously was changed in an instant.

Kiss Me Deadly has a great premise. It also has great imagery. But the story really drags in places, and elements in the conclusion don't have enough build-up or back-story. They just, boom, happen.

The movie doesn't mean anything at all. The beginning was very good but the conclusion was just awful. There's no answer to the main question alongside other questions. So many murders and investigations but it is unanswered, why they wanted that object (I'm not telling what it is) and why the lady was hiding it from them. There's also the connection between characters are not well established.

What a MOVIE. Not great, just bewildering, at a volume that screams at you throughout. Every ounce of dialogue is peak-noir, hardboiled to such a degree every line feels like a non-sequitur. It was all a little too much for me, but it's hard to deny the power of that ending. Absolutely insane.
