The first one is the funnest. This one is some how sillier and even felt too family friendly to me at times. Throwing the Rock's face on a giant scorpion is when things got really bad. Still, The Mummy Returns is better than the 3rd at least.
Apart from the bad CGI, The Mummy Returns is just as entertaining as the first one, if not just a tiny bit more. Rachel Weisz is also a bit...err...more. Actually, everything is a tiny bit "more". The action, the adventure, the story...everything. So...does that mean I hold this one in a higher regard than the first? No, not exactly. To me, these two come as a pair. You can't have one without the other. So...great movie, and certainly one to enjoy from time to time, but...not without its predecessor.
This movie gave us the gift if a terrible CGI Rock on a scorpion body and I love it for that. Not quite as good as the first and kinda feels too similar but still a lot of fun.
I think I enjoy this film just as much as the first. Still grips me the same and isn't overly repetitive which is good.
A typical no-brainer (heck, almost stupid) action flick. The special effects may have been jaw droppers in 2001 but today they are nothing special. And since the plot is also rather mediocre we are left with 2 hours of average Hollywood blab-blah...
