A Sally Field version of one of them shitty afternoon melodramas turned up to 11 until it teeters on becoming Death Wish. I very rarely agree with Roger Ebert (who gave thumb down to a lot go my favorite movies - see The Thing etc. etc. - that dude needn't have bothered with certain whole genres altogether and was a sucker for obvious Oscar bait) but he was right on the money with this one when he summed it up as "a particularly nasty little example of audience manipulation". For once, I couldn't have put it better.

Don't mess with Sally Field, now she's a fighter, and gets what she wants, a eye for an eye, she means it. 7/10

Gross right-wing propaganda that tries to convince you that laws in this country - a country which has the highest incarceration rates IN THE WORLD - are too flimsy, and that only vigilante justice can make up the difference. Barf.
