The first half or so of Kat Crime: Tales Of The Occult is reasonably solid and entertaining with pretty good performances for the most part. But once Kat (Christina Colgan), Deana (Kyla Nova), & Judy (Brady Reiter) enter the house to do the interview there is a distinct down turn and the rest of the movie is severely disappointing. I would actually love it if they get a chance to make a sequel (which they do setup for) to see if they can maintain the quality of the parts of the film I liked. Would Recommend With Some Reservations
I was the VFX Supervisor for this film. Overall, I was really proud of the end result here. When I worked on the film, I only saw fragments at a time. Seconds. A texting graphic here, an email notification there, a muzzle flash there. I made the opening and end credits as well - but I had never gotten the ability to see the film as a whole...and finally, I got there. It's a whole new world when you see your work alongside everyone else's. It's something else. The movie itself is a low budget, indie horror fare - and you mostly get what you expect. I do like some elements of the cinematography, the simple structure and the true crime YouTuber idea - however, it does have a problem with too much exposition and far too short of a 3rd act/climax. Overall, I had a good time with it.
