I'm not sure why I like this movie so much. Maybe we all feel like Elliot sometimes, and wish we had a chance to change our lives in a blink. Or maybe I like Liz Hurley in a red dress and am a sucker for a feel good ending. On thing is for sure, this movie has aged well, and is just as watchable almost 20 years on.
It's not the best movie ever but Elizabeth Hurley is fun as the devil and seeing Brendan Fraser play so many different roles is entertaining.
>"I am the Devil! Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub, the Prince of Darkness! Well, the Princ-ess of Darkness, anyway." Brendan Fraser was meant for this role. While I do think he is a national treasure, he starts off really unlikable in this movie and then finds his stride. There are a few laugh out loud moments, and some quick witted humor too, but overall this movie is just stupid and fun.
A pale and insipid retelling of the Peter Cooke & Dudley Moore story - only Hollywood-style. Surprised to see that Harold Ramis was directing. It’s nowhere near as crisp and smart as his other efforts. But - Luscious Liz Lucifer regularly struts about in pvc cosplay outfits... so the plot could have been utterly dreadful yet I’d still be able to enjoy it 😉
Gay Elliot "Shut up you bitch" LMAO
