>"I haven't seen a walk like that since Jurassic Park!" I know this movie is not for everyone, and I have seen the low scores on it... but this movie is great. Could it be because I had a crush on Sandra since I was a kid watching Speed? Probably. Michael Caine and William Shatner playing very different roles is definitely a plus, and Benjamin Bratt is also fun to watch.
Just one of those movies I secretly like to watch.
**The Good**: + **Sandra Bullock** is well suited as a badass female FBI agent going undercover. + The chemistry between Bullock and **Benjamin Bratt** works. The Bad: - The whole movie is about a bunch of incompetent male cops messing around either making fun of or creepily stalking beautiful women and an overly obviously masculine female cop trying to learn how to be a lady. - Bullock's performance turns awkward in several scenes and it's difficult to watch and enjoy her messing around. - **Michael Caine** in a totally misplaced and awkward part. He does it well, as always, but it doesn't suit him at all. - The dialogue is cringe-worthy, with terrible one-liners and jokes that always fall flat. - The film forgets it's supposed to be a crime film and turns into a chick-flick and a guide on how to be a lady instead. - Despite its romantic tendencies, it has no emotional impact or dramatic tension. - I have nerve liked **William Shatner** outside of _Star Trek_ and this film is no exception. He "singing" is the worst thing of the entire movie. - The script plays around with stereotypes and fails to break them. - The finale is hilariously messy - in all the wrong ways. - The entire movie is awkward and uncomfortable to watch; it's hopelessly dated in today's world and is neither a good comedy nor a good cop movie. **Verdict**: It's never funny and never exciting; this awkward and outdated comedy is an uncomfortable ride to sit through.
Gracie's journey seems so relatable—from disdaining feminine characteristics ranging from makeup and accessories to pageants themselves to embracing the beauty and strength in all things feminine. I don't remember when the line between hating and loving such movies blurred opening the door to let me into a world of such wholesomeness, but I am glad it did. Miss Rhode Island is an absolute sweetheart and she is my favourite. The mystery really does not matter here, this is an ultimate girlie-pop sleepover feel-good treat.
One of Megan’s favourite films! And Chris also loved. 9/10 is a compromise on Megan’s part (else it would be 10/10).
