I agree with flex completely...this is one of the worst continuations ever. This movie is so completely awful it actually taints the show itself which is very sad to me and I wish I would have heeded the advice I was given to never watch this piece of trash. So I am passing that warning to you...DO NOT WATCH THIS PIECE OF CRAP, if you like the show at all. This movie is not only bad it basically pisses on everything that makes the show good...the actor replacement for Daisy is so terrible it just baffles me why anyone green lit this garbage.
Dead Like Me: Life After Death is a fun and witty comedy, but has issues delivering a compelling story. This feature follows a group of grim reapers as they shirk their responsibilities and deal with the consequences. Several of the original series cast members have returned, including Ellen Muth, Callum Blue, and Britt McKillip, and are joined by a few new actors, including Sarah Wynter and Henry Ian Cusick. Unfortunately, the story isn’t really congruent with the television series, as the characters have already dealt with most of these issues previously. The cast changes also disruptive the flow from series to feature film. Still, the film manages to recapture some of the clever wit and insightfulness that the show was known for. Dead Like Me: Life After Death is a fun and entertaining film, even though it has problems delivering something fresh and new.
Making movies for TV shows work as standalone movies is near impossible, so I wasn't expecting that. Making them work for fans of the TV show is very possible (see Veronica Mars movie), and this movie is bad at it. It's not even just the lack of one of the most important characters (Rube), or the bad recast of another (Daisy) - although I can understand why the actors didn't want anything to do with this mess. The story is a mess, needlessly splits the group in two parts, and generally misses the characters completely. That really ruins any enjoyment from seeing the characters again. In short: AVOID, especially if you liked the show.
It's so awful and I'm personally offended by how Reggie's story turned out. She was an amazingly complex and interesting kid and deserved much better writing as a teenager. Lots of OOC-ness for all the characters.
Finally watched the end of the story after so many years. No bad,but still rather the previous seson of the show.
