"That's why when somebody say, "when you get to the NBA, don't forget about me", and that stuff. Well, I should've said to them, "if I don't make it, don't you forget about me." " We don't have a college system here in the Netherlands so it is always interesting to see that system. I don't know if the system works or not but damn, all these scouts recruiting kids. A lot of scouts. Anyway Arthur Agee and William Gates are both very likeable and have different journeys but it is told very well and I love seeing these boys interact. I liked the bit of a happy ending for Agee and I felt bad for William. His hobby, that he loved, became a chore. I think that is the most horrible thing that can happen. I think I would also be very annoyed if I had a brother who tried to push his failed dream onto you. Very tough to watch. Hoop Dreams is a must watch documentary and one of the best I've ever seen. Basketball is more the connecting bit between these two boys. For me it is more about them and their lives, basketball is the side dish we get with it! Ps. Don't be afraid of its length, it is well worth it!
One of the documentary movies I’ve ever watched. Superb.
