I watched the roughly 4-hour restoration that included substantial use of production stills and (I think) reconstructed intertitles. The restoration effect was well done and didn't detract from what was really a fine film. Great performances by the three leads, especially Gibson Gowland and his magnificent hair as McTeague. While the movie was quite long, it never felt like it dragged, and it culminated in an ending for the ages.

I find it crazy how a “currency” we created can have such a powerful corrupting force, eroding everything we hold dear, yet it does, and we see it in every aspect of life. Greed will be the fall of man.
